Inspirational Quotes | Quote 238/365

New theme for this week: famous latin sayings. If you have a suggestion for a quote, please let me know in a comment below.

De gustibus non est disputandum (In matters of taste, there can be no disputes)

This was one of my favorite quotes and I repeated ad nauseam (we use a lot of latin saying in Italy) when I was a teenager and adults objected to the way I was dressed. I do think we should use it more often: instead of trying of forcing our opinions down others’ throats, we should just be open and accept the differences. I can’t count how many times people argued with me because I can’t eat garlic.

So, the the last time: Italian only eat garlic in moderation, if at all, especially in the the Northern part of the peninsula. Please read this illuminating article about it from The Globe and Mail.

“If you think Italians admonishing the overuse of their beloved garlic is an act of sacrilege, you probably don’t live in Italy. “
