Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear – Ambrose Redmoon
How many times have you been held back by your fears or insecurities? If you are like me, way too many. This is a great aphorism to remember in those cases; real courage does not mean never being scared – only a fool would do that. Being brave means acknowledging the fear, and still move forward regardless…
As a parent, it is hard to find the right balance between pushing your child to overcome fears and providing safe comfort and acknowledging his scary thoughts.
If you are dealing with an anxious kid, beside being encouraging of course, try the Worry Eaters plush. The child write the worries down on paper and give them to the monster to “eat” and hide inside its zippered mouth
Another helpful tool is the book, “Don’t Feed The Worry Bug”, that also, incidentally have a line of coordinated plushes. Sometime silliness is the best cure.
